Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has hinted that Fernando Torres may not be recalled for either of the club’s two massive games in the next week, the Champions’ League opener against Bayer Leverkusen or the weekend’s trip to Manchester United. Villas-Boas is keen to keep faith in Daniel Sturridge, calling him an “outstanding player” after the young Englishman scored Chelsea’s winning goal against Sunderland at the weekend.

Elsewhere in the papers this morning, Manchester City chief Roberto Mancini has rubbished the comparisons being made between his side and Barcelona, mega-rich Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala are targeting Fabio Capello to become their new manager after his England contract expires, and Arsene Wenger is eyeing a change of career for new signing Per Mertesacker.
